Here are a few common questions that I get asked. If you have anything you would like to ask me then please get in touch.
Most people get in touch with me because they do not like having their photos taken. I can sympathise with this as I am certainly more comfortable behind the camera. I believe the best images taken of ourselves are the ones where people are not conscious of the camera.
My aim for your wedding day is to blend in and to be a guest with a camera and provide you with beautiful photographs of yourselves, your friends and your family all enjoying the day naturally without the need for direction. I will document your wedding day… not direct it.
How do we book you?
Simply contact me by the contact page to see If I am available and I will send you a contract and booking form, these need to be filled in and returned to me together with a deposit of £500.00. Once I have received these the date will be reserved for you and I will drop you an email confirming this.
Do we need to meet you beforehand?
Much of my work is available to view online, however if you are still unsure and would like to meet up beforehand I am happy to do this. I normally recommend meeting up at the wedding venue, however I can come to your home, it is entirely up to you. It is important to ensure that we both want the same things from your Wedding Photography – there will be no hard sell, just an informal chat.
What does full coverage mean?
Full coverage means I will be with you all day – from the bridal party getting ready right up until the party is in full swing.
Will you need feeding?
You do not need to worry about feeding me, I will look after myself.
How far will you travel?
My prices are all inclusive of travel costs anywhere within England. However I will travel anywhere within the UK and Europe for Destination Weddings, please inquire for more info.
How many images will I receive?
This is a difficult one to answer as every wedding is different and the number of images taken can depend on the weather, guests and venue restrictions. However I aim to provide in excess of 350 images for a full days coverage.
How long will it take to receive my photos?
I aim to have them ready to view online by the time you return from your honeymoon. My Album companies give a lead time of three weeks after an order is placed.
How many of my photos will be black & white and how many colour?
You may notice that I have a lot of black & white photos on my site. This is a personal preference as I love the timeless look and feel of old film photography. If you are considering booking me as your Wedding Photographer then I guess that you do to. I normally try to deliver 50:50 ratio of colour and monochrome, but this of course can be swayed to your preference. Let me know a ratio you would be happy with and I can process the images accordingly.
What equipment do you use?
I use Nikon digital cameras with fast prime lenses. I have back ups for all my equipment.
Do you use flash?
Only when I need to. I use flash to improve quality of light rather than quantity, but I am mostly a natural light photographer.
Do you take formal and group photographs?
Yes, At every wedding… On my booking form I will ask you how many formal family group shots you would like taken so that I can make sure I take the time to get these photographs for you. I appreciate that the older generation still like traditional photographs for their mantelpiece.
How long will these take?
I try to get them all done in 20 minutes right after the ceremony before anyone escapes to the bar.
When will you take the portraits of just the two of us?
I will normally ask you at some point during the day when you are ready and this will also only take 20 minutes. I like to wait until the light is right or when you are both relaxed and ready to have your pictures taken. My aim is to make it relaxed and fun and not too staged, but still try to get something creative.
Will you travel abroad for a Wedding?
I will travel anywhere for a wedding :-)
Do you have insurance?
Being a professional Wedding Photographer, I have full public liability insurance and insurance for all my equipment. Being fully insured and paying taxes does cost a lot of money… if you see a good photographer that is cheap, it may be because they are cutting costs elsewhere… for full peace of mind… cutting corners is not what I do.
Can we decide after the wedding If we would like a book and get back to you?
You can, I do not have packages…. I offer books, prints and albums, all of which can be viewed when we meet, I am not a salesman…. If you would like to get an Album then that can be arranged, I will not try to sell you something you dont want.
